Did you know if you were to look up to the sky on the 18th December at exactly 7:15pm you will see a bright flickering star precisely 5 degrees SE of the northern star. This star is dim every other evening but happens to be bright that one evening every year and do you know why? It is because that star is made up of all the wishes and dreams of all the children who have wished upon it. It is fuelled by the purity of the yellow heart which is beating right in the middle of Monty the Monkey.
It all started when a young girl chose this magnificent Monkey and took him home. She had bought this monkey for her sister who was ill in hospital but let home one day for Christmas. This girl was no super hero, she had no special powers, and she was just an ordinary girl who had bought a present for her sister for Christmas. It is what happened afterwards which is what made this monkey who he is now. They had no wrapping paper so the little girl wrapped the monkey in toilet paper and gave him to her sister not on Christmas day but on the monkey’s birthday, that same day she bought him and stuffed him with a yellow heart. The exact reason was recently discovered by one of our investigators on the story; apparently the red hearts were very popular in the store and therefore the box containing them was almost empty but this girl wanted the monkey to be special, unique, different and therefore chose to stuff him with a yellow heart.
When her sister opened him up she was overjoyed and named him Monty. No one knew why she chose this particular name but that evening, her sister told her that that name was very important to her in a way no one else would understand. The next day, after one full night at home hugging Monty, the girl’s sister started feeling better and not only that, but her blood counts were also improving. For many days the nurses were puzzled by the sudden improvement in her health but they were sure that nothing they had done could have caused all of this. Many months later, the sister said to the girl that she had wished on Monty and her wishes of improving had come true. They were both very happy and both agreed that Monty had healing wish powers.
Unfortunately a year or two after that, the monkey went missing for a few days. No one could find him and all in the family were heartbroken until one day they found him in the loft staring at the poster of stars they had up there. He was actually pointing at a blank space where there were no stars but when the girl matched up the poster to the night sky, she found that the blank space Monty was staring at actually had a very dim star there. She was even more surprised to find that that star was not dim on the particular night that her sister opened up her present; 18th December.
The legend is that any person, who sees that star on that evening, can wish on it and also that wish may even come true.
