Monty’s Corner is committed to transparency, ethical practice, and responsible innovation. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve content quality and operational efficiency, we use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist with writing, editing, and idea development. This page outlines how AI is used, what safeguards are in place, and how we ensure that all content remains human-led and mission-aligned.
Why This Policy Exists
While there is currently no mandatory AI policy requirement for UK charities, guidance from the Charity Commission, Charity Digital and other sector bodies encourages charities to:
- Use AI responsibly and ethically
- Maintain human oversight
- Be transparent with users and stakeholders
- Consider risks such as bias, misinformation, and data protection
Monty’s Corner is proud to be among the first charities to publish a public-facing AI Use Policy.
How AI Is Used at Monty’s Corner
We use AI tools regularly to assist with:
- Drafting and refining website content
- Creating policy pages and programme descriptions
- Improving clarity, tone, and structure of written materials
AI is used as a creative and operational tool to help overcome resource limitations and ensure consistent, high-quality communication. All AI-assisted content is reviewed, edited, and approved by a human trustee before publication. We do not publish fully AI-generated content, and we do not use AI to make decisions, moderate users, or process personal data.
Human Oversight
All AI interactions are overseen by a trustee of CCE Research Alliance responsible for managing Monty’s Corner. Content created with AI assistance is carefully reviewed to ensure:
- Accuracy and relevance
- Alignment with our charitable mission
- Sensitivity to the needs of families affected by childhood cancer
We do not delegate any safeguarding, fundraising, or governance decisions to AI tools.
Data Protection and Privacy
We do not use AI tools to process, store, or analyse personal data. Any information submitted via our website or programmes (e.g. names and addresses for “Surprise a Child”) is handled manually and securely by trustees and volunteers.
Our use of AI complies with the principles of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
Policy Review
As recommended by the UK Charity Commission and other sector regulators, we review our core policies annually and update them whenever there are changes to legislation, digital services, or our operational model. This ensures our practices remain accurate, relevant, and legally compliant.
