  • Important Notice: Domain Name Compromised

Our original domain name (montyscorner.org) has been acquired by an unrelated party and is now compromised.

We’re reaching out to inform our community about a serious issue affecting Monty’s Corner’s online presence.

What Happened

Our original domain name, montyscorner.org, was unexpectedly acquired by an unrelated third party. It has since been redirected to a gambling website, which is in no way affiliated with Monty’s Corner or our mission to support families affected by childhood cancer.

This change occurred without our knowledge or consent, and we believe the domain was registered opportunistically, exploiting the reputation we’ve built over many years.

To avoid confusion, please note that montys-corner.org is now our official website.

Why This Matters

The misuse of our former domain poses a serious risk to our charity’s credibility and the trust we’ve earned from families, supporters, and partners. Visitors who mistakenly land on the compromised site may be misled or confused, potentially harming the integrity of our work.

What We’re Doing

We’ve taken swift action to protect our charity and reclaim our rightful domain:

  • Secured alternative domains including montyscorner.com (owned since 2008), montyscorner.co.uk, montys-corner.co.uk, montys-corner.com, and montys-corner.org (our current official website).
  • Launched a public fundraising campaign to cover the legal costs of filing a formal complaint under the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP).
  • Compiling evidence of our long-standing use of the Monty’s Corner name, including email records dating back to 2008 and ownership of multiple domain extensions.

How You Can Help

We’re asking for your support to help us raise the necessary funds to file the UDRP complaint and reclaim our domain. You can:

  • Donate to our campaign - PayPal Campaign Page
  • Share this message to raise awareness
  • Bookmark and use our official website: https://montys-corner.org

Glossary of Terms

Cybersquatting
The act of registering, using, or selling a domain name with the intent to profit from someone else's brand, trademark, or reputation — often in bad faith.

UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy)
A legal process established by ICANN to resolve disputes over domain names. It allows rightful owners to reclaim domains that were registered in bad faith.

ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers)
The global organization responsible for managing domain names and IP addresses. ICANN oversees the UDRP process but does not directly handle complaints.

WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization)
An international body that handles intellectual property disputes, including domain name cases under the UDRP.

NAF (National Arbitration Forum)
A U.S.-based organization authorized by ICANN to resolve domain name disputes under the UDRP.

WHOIS Lookup
A public search tool that shows who owns a domain name and which registrar manages it. Useful for identifying domain registrants and filing complaints.

Domain Registrar
The company through which a domain name is registered. Registrars manage domain records and can take action if a domain is used maliciously.

Bad Faith Registration
When someone registers a domain name with dishonest intent, for example, to mislead users, profit from another brand, or damage a reputation.

How Domain Loss Can Occur
Domains must be renewed regularly. If a domain expires or is transferred, it may be acquired by unrelated parties, sometimes opportunistically. This can lead to confusion, reputational harm, and misuse.
