Monty’s Corner welcomes the support of volunteers and interns who share our commitment to uplifting children affected by cancer. Whether contributing remotely or assisting with specific programmes, we expect all participants to uphold the values and standards outlined below.
This code ensures that our work remains safe, respectful, and aligned with our charitable mission.
Terminology
For definitions and terminology used throughout our policies, please refer to our Site Policies Overview.
Our Expectations
All volunteers and interns must:
- Treat children, families, and fellow contributors with kindness and respect
- Uphold confidentiality, especially when handling personal data (e.g. gift submissions)
- Avoid sharing sensitive or medical information publicly
- Represent Monty’s Corner in a way that reflects our tone: warm, inclusive, and non-judgmental
- Follow safeguarding guidance and report any concerns promptly
- Use communication channels responsibly and professionally
Data and Confidentiality
Volunteers may occasionally handle names, addresses, or other personal details—especially when supporting programmes like “Surprise a Child.” In these cases:
- Data must be used only for its intended purpose
- Information must not be stored, shared, or reused
- All data must be deleted securely after use
- Any breach must be reported immediately to the trustees
Safeguarding Awareness
Volunteers are expected to read and follow our Safeguarding Policy While we do not provide direct care, we take all safeguarding concerns seriously and expect volunteers to do the same.
Communication and Conduct
We encourage open, respectful communication. Volunteers must not:
- Post or share inappropriate content
- Engage in arguments or personal criticism
- Misrepresent Monty’s Corner or its values
If you’re unsure about how to respond to a situation, please contact a trustee or administrator for guidance.
Oversight and Support
All volunteers and interns operate under the oversight of CCE Research Alliance, the registered charity responsible for Monty’s Corner. Trustees retain ultimate responsibility for safeguarding, data protection, and conduct.
Policy Review
As recommended by the UK Charity Commission and other sector regulators, we review our core policies annually and update them whenever there are changes to legislation, digital services, or our operational model. This ensures our practices remain accurate, relevant, and legally compliant.
